"You're going to die someday, but it won't be of a heart attack,'' said the doctor after going over all the stress and medical test results. ``Go ahead and ride the damned thing, but
take it easy on the hills."

I like warm water. I realized along the way that shallow (say 60 feet or so) dives not only give you more time but usually have better life to see. So when I recently went to Barbados, I talked to a couple of dive operators about “elder” divers.

June Mountain is a throwback, hearkening to earlier years of skiing/boarding as opposed to most contemporary resorts. There is a timeless purity about June, even with its modern lifts, that will always have a place in the snowsport world.

Snow isn’t actually white. A snow crystal’s surface is faceted which creates hundreds of tiny prisms which refract the light into all colors of the spectrum and reflect back to our eyes as white.

Some people believe Snowdon Mountain was the home and burial place of King Arthur and that his legendary sword, Excalibur, remains in a nearby lake.

Because I spent 16 years at National Geographic, people often ask me: What's the best camera for a family vacation? Then I have to deliver the good news and the bad news.

Whimsy seems to be highly valued in the public art of Tbilisi. A jazz club has a saxophonist embedded in the wall of their building and even the bollards on Rustaveli Avenue demonstrate a sense of humor.

There are an estimated 35 million surfers worldwide, but surfing is one of the most physically demanding sports around; most surfers only get about 8% ride time, spending a majority of their time paddling or lining up for waves.
