We briefly skirted a few potential avalanche outruns, following a trail which eventually climbs to 8,500 feet. Beyond the cabin, Cabin Valley opens into a huge meadow prime for blasting through the five inches of freshies that had fallen overnight. Towering above this playground are imagined pathways with labels such as Top of the World, Roly Poly and Mega Bowl that beckon to hillclimbers and highmarkers. |

We skied top to bottom, but not before spending most the day taking runs off The Stoke and The Ripper chairs. Unlike the see-forever day we'd savored at Kicking Horse, clouds and, eventually, rain, obscured the views here at Revelstoke. So we focused on runs that weaved through forests and paralleled ridges where crazier skis slip through chutes.

Cable Cars are irresistible to tourists, who willingly stand in lengthy lines in order to board. The most adventurous like to cling to the outside for a thrilling ride as the noisy little vehicles bump and rumble their way up and down the city's alarmingly steep hills, bells clanging.
