When You Go -- Lake Powell Houseboating

Getting There: United Airlines currently offer three daily flights from Phoenix to Page, Arizona. Page is next to Glen Canyon Dam and the Wahweap Marina. Driving to one of the four marinas provides a variety of beautiful scenery. Whether you go directly to Wahweap via Highway 89 or head to Halls Crossing, with a stop in Monument Valley on Route 163, you will experience countless "photo moments." A must stop in Monument Valley is colorful Gouldings Lodge, phone number (801) 727-3231, where you are surrounded by movie history of the "Old West."

Staying There: Page, AZ has a generous range of lodging. Excellent information regarding lodging phone numbers, tourist attractions, campgrounds, etc. can be obtained by contacting, Page/Lake Powell Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Bureau at (520) 645-2741or email: chamber@page-lakepowell.com. The most scenic lodging is on the shores of the lake at Wahweap Lodge. They can be contacted through Lake Powell Reservations. Accommodations at the other three marinas are more sparse. A recommended resource for your boating explorations on the lake is the Stan Jones Boating and Exploring Map to Glen Canyon National Recreation Area.
